About LinguaTools

Twenty practical language tools, with clear distinctions between local processing, browser speech and optional providers.

The site operator

LinguaTools is operated by Yamraj Khadka.

Email the site operator at khadkayamraj2002@gmail.com. Do not include passwords, API keys, confidential passages or unnecessary personal information.

A toolkit, not a promise of perfect writing

LinguaTools brings together 20 tools for writing, vocabulary, language practice and speech. You can use them without an account. The purpose is to make everyday tasks easier: count a draft, clean copied text, collect useful words or listen to a sentence. The configured site address is https://lingua.yamrajkhadka.com.np, and the current interface locale is en. The original quizzes and curated learning entries are English practice material, not a complete language course.

Local tools use deterministic operations: the summarizer extracts original sentences, the simplifier replaces a small list of English phrases, and the email writer builds a template. Counting, case conversion, cleanup and limited grammar pattern checks also work locally. None of these is an AI rewrite in disguise. Sentence rewriting, paraphrasing and tone conversion stay disabled until an AI provider and key are configured.

Suggestions can miss context, and generated text can change facts. Quizzes are not proficiency certificates, pronunciation practice does not score your accent, and reading-time estimates are not measurements of your ability. Review important work yourself and seek a suitable professional when the stakes require one.

Optional providers: operator setup

Operators configure integrations in server environment variables, using .env.local for local development. Keep secret keys out of NEXT_PUBLIC_* variables. Restart the server after changes; GET /api/status reports configuration availability, not a guarantee that an upstream service is healthy. Users must consent before submitting text to an optional text-processing provider.

  • AI: set AI_PROVIDER to openai or anthropic and supply AI_API_KEY. Use AI_MODEL and AI_BASE_URL when needed; set AI_MAX_INPUT_CHARS=5000 for the standard input limit. Review the OpenAI documentation or Anthropic documentation and provider pricing and data policies. Local summarizing, simplification and email templates remain available without this integration.
  • Grammar: set LANGUAGETOOL_API_URL to your self-hosted LanguageTool /v2 endpoint, or configure a premium endpoint with LANGUAGETOOL_USERNAME and LANGUAGETOOL_API_KEY. There is no public LanguageTool endpoint enabled by default. See the LanguageTool developer documentation.
  • Dictionary: English word lookups use the Free Dictionary API by default, with no key. It is a community service with no guaranteed uptime or complete coverage. DICTIONARY_API_URL can override the endpoint.
  • Translation: set TRANSLATE_PROVIDER to libretranslate or deepl, configure TRANSLATE_API_URL as needed and supply TRANSLATE_API_KEY when required. See LibreTranslate or DeepL. Supported languages are discovered from the actual service; without a configured provider, the tool does not produce a translation.

Browser speech support is separate from these APIs. Voices and recognition availability depend on your browser and device, and some speech processing may use outside services. Read the privacy details before using external text or speech processing.
